Greetings! New performers and grizzled veterans alike, please read over the following material. There will be a quiz! - You will take it every day from Opening through the end of the Faire. It will be administered by the thousands of people in our audience. Entertainment people, you can register online, at PlayFaire.org and help test their new online system at the same time. ENTERTAINMENT DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENTThe RPF Entertainment Department exists to create an unmatched experience for our audience using interaction, spectacle, music, variety theatre and history. It is our goal for this experience to be so impactful and so unique that our audience can't help but return, and that their enthusiastic word-of-mouth will attract a new and larger audience. FAIRE CALENDARPlease note: With the exception of the dates the Faire is open, dates and activities are subject to change. Check back here for updates. Double check with your Guildmaster or Director if you have any questions or concerns.
With the exception of the February Orientation Meeting and Auditions, all meetings, rehearsals & workshops will be held at the Faire site unless otherwise noted. Check the web site for further information. ORIENTATIONApprentices (those who are joining our cast for the first time) should report to the Orientation Meeting/Workshops on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 9:00 AM. at the Faire Site. REGISTRATIONKeep in touch with your Guildmaster or Director as to the registration process for the 2008 season as it may be changing.
Additional registration forms will be available at the Orientation meetings. WORKSHOPS & REHEARSALSIn preparation for performance at the Faire, you will need to complete a minimum number of hours participating in: (a) RAPA assigned workshops, (b) workshops provided by directors of guilds, troupes, or shows, and (c) rehearsal and production sessions.
Important - These are minimum standards. Your Director may assign additional time and require you take specific classes. Most cast members spend additional time preparing for the Faire. Please note that requirements and availability of workshops are always subject to change. The RAPA workshop schedules are now available as PDF files. RECKONING CARDYour Reckoning Card is complete only when it bears the following verification:
Note: Costume Approval is available every Workshop day. Check with your Guildmaster or Director for the style of costume required for your particular group. Please review any Costuming information on this web site. Submit your Reckoning Card to ENT when it is complete. If all is in order, the Registrar will authorize you to receive a Photo ID Gate Pass from the Event Services Department (ES). PHOTO IDYour Photo ID Gate Passes will generally be available for pick-up from ENT or by your Guildmaster/ Director by Dress Rehearsal day.
When receiving your Gate Pass, you may receive a Parking Pass if you request one. COMPENSATIONRAPA is an educational and recreational program to explore theater and living history. Participation is conducted primarily on a volunteer basis. There are few paid positions for performers. However, as a performer you will gain valuable skills and experience in a fun and richly creative environment. FEESWorkshops are presented free of charge. There is a $20 replacement fee for lost passes after they have been issued. PARTICIPATION & CONDUCTAll RAPA enrollees are expected to actively and diligently participate in workshops and rehearsals as required. They are also expected to conduct themselves in a professional and cooperative manner and to follow and support all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of RAPA and the Faire as well as all federal, state, and local laws.
